After the Newcastle Parkrun was called off we took a trip to the third running of the Whitley Bay Parkrun. Brian Hetherington set new record figures after a hard fought battle at the third Whitley Bay Parkrun. The Wallsend Harrier was quickly to the fore after a manic start and was tracked by Tynedale Harriers' Alan Copeland before Hetherington's strength began to show as he came home 26 seconds clear. Whitley Bay is the latest location in the ever expanding Parkrun series and with a huge turnout and a challenging but enjoyable course, it looks as though this venue will be one of the most popular in the region. North Tyneside Mayor Linda Arkley was even there to enjoy the inaugural event as victory went to Tyne Bridge Harriers' Tony Carter in 17.07. |
